Playback issues

I work overnights in a lab and use both my beats and Samsung buds(depending on which is charged) while I work so being able to quickly pause to discuss something and then resuming by clicking the headphones play button is pretty handy and nice. However since the last update my phone wont keep the playback menu open for more than 30 seconds or so while paused and that of course causes my play button not to work cause it doesnt have anything to play. Having to go into my pocket wearing disgusting gloves and touching my phone is very tedious and frustrating. It isnt my phone nor the app because I just received my S10+ Wednesday and redownload the app and was also having these same issues on my S9+ for a at least a week. I've gone through the setting and have found nothing that would cause this especially because your setting list honestly is a joke and not customizable at all. Anyone have any ideas?
