Question

embedded player not showing up on firefox

The embedded player is not showing up on my site on firefox. In Chrome and Microsoft Edge is ok and works fine, the problem seems to be only on Firefox.

My website: http://noesbarco.wix.com/ivanferrer#!works/ckiy

On Sounds section on left menu.

Any solution?

Thanks

Hi there,

Sorry to hear this isn't working for you. If this issue persists, can you please make sure to try and see if you've got any extensions running and disable any of them for the purpose of testing? Also, what operating system are you running?

Cheers
M
Hi Mathis,

Thx for getting back in touch. I have tried to disable all the installed extension in Firefox, but this did not make any change. Problem still there with Firefox 47. I am running Windows 7 Pro.

Best,

Christophe
I am also having the same problem. I am using Firefox 47.0.1 and running Windows 10 (64 bit). Embedded Soundcloud files play without a problem on IE, Edge and Chrome but will not play on Firefox.

Hi again,

Hmm, very odd - we've forwarded your reports to our engineers, however at the same time we haven't been able to reproduce the issue from our end. I've tested Firefox under Windows 7, Windows 10 and OS X and your embedded players are actually working fine from here.

Let's see what else can be done here though.

1. Please try and see if your website loads properly in Firefox' Safe Mode.
2. Open the console and reload your website, then see for any error messages. Take a screenshot / copy & paste what's in the console in your next reply.

Hope we can soon get to the bottom of this.

Cheers
Mathis
Hi Mathis,

There effectively seems to have an issue with Flash. Here are the messages from the console :

  • JQMIGRATE: Migrate is installed, version 1.4.1 - jquery-migrate.min.js:2:542
  • TypeError: this.getFlashPlugin(...).match(...) is null - widget-49c2ff1f.js:5:4059
  • mutating the [[Prototype]] of an object will cause your code to run very slowly; instead create the object with the correct initial [[Prototype]] value using Object.create - widget-49c2ff1f.js:10:30606

Thanks for the spot on follow up. Can you let us know if your Flash player is up to the most current version on your browser?

Firefox has documentation on Flash here.

I have exaclty the same console error messages and running the same version of Flash like leBananierbleu. Starting Firefox in Safe Mode had no effect.

Trying to figure out where the problem stands...
I have checked my website with Firefox on another computer... and it runs perfectly fine (and then i understand why you can't reproduce the issue...). So the problem is not coming from SoundCloud, not coming from Firefox nor any plugin (since the problem still exists in safe mode), Flash is up to date...
No idea... Something between my computer (Windows?) and Firefox?

It seems to be a genuine problem of Firefox 47, I've tried it on Firefox 45 and on this version the players work just fine.

I have downgraded my Firefox installation to .46 and the player indeed works fine. Then, I re-updated it to .47, and the player is down again... So, yes, there is a problem with SoundCloud in Firefox 47...
just for the record, i just updated to Firefox 48 and the problem still persists.
I'm experiencing the same problem too. All I get is the grey Soundcloud logo instead of a player. Happens with or without addons enabled. Firefox 48.0, Flash player 22.0.0.209.

I've looked in the console and I can see a Cross-Origin Request (CORS) error. Here's a copy:

I'm having the same issue on my two sites that use Soundcloud e.g. www.knysnakeep.org/interview-copes-elrick-van-aswegen. Works in other browsers, not in Firefox. I have the latest browser updates.

Disabling addons didn't work.
I am also experiencing the same Firefox issues at www.thelegendofthings.com
Same - on Chrome. Embedded players show up looking like this:

Just installed Firefox v48.0.2 with no improvement.
So today the widget is finally working fine... Firefox has been updated to 47.0.1 and I also updated Wordpress to 4.6... Glad but don't know why...
Firefox 48.0.2 on Windows 7 X64, same problem..
Only SC logo on all embedded players :(

same issue here with new Firefox 48.0.2, Windows 10 64-bit. Website works 110% corrently, but the embed player doesn't appear on EVERY website which I'm familiar with. This includes my own blog http://mavoy-music.blogspot.com/2016/08/jones-indulge.html (can't see it both when I'm writing the post and when I view the published one) and other music websites. Safe Mode doesn't change a thing

Since it seems to be Flash issue, I'll add I'm using 22,0,0,209 version, the current one.
