I am submiting my podcast to iTiunes (Submit Podcast).

On the first screen when I need to submit the Podcast Feed URL, I get an error message

There is a problem with your feed. Your episodes are hosted on a server which doesn't support byte-range requests. Enable byte-range requests and try your submissions again

I am attempting to submitting this

http://feeds.soundcloud.com/users/soundcloud:users:13285829/sounds.rss

Can you help

Thanks

Grant

Hi Grant,

Thanks for posting. I've looked into this for you and it appears that the RSS feed is working properly. I've used this website to test that.

I noticed that you have also provided a podtrac link for the "Stats service URL prefix". Can you try leaving that out (you can change it at http://soundcloud.com/settings/extra) and try to submit then? This way we can isolate whether this is coming from our end or from Podtrac.

Hope this helps!

Cheers,
Mathis

Hi Jeremy,

Thanks for posting. I see you've provided a Podtrac link as well - can you try deleting that from http://soundcloud.com/settings/extra and try submitting again to see what happens?

In general, SoundCloud itself does support byte range requests, so if I had to take a guess here, something on the way from either SoundCloud to Podtrac or from Podtrac to iTunes.

Curious to see if taking the Podtrac link out will help sorting this out / isolating the issue further.

Cheers,
Mathis

Took out the Podtrac link and it seemed to have accepted the podcast, but got caught up on this:
Podcast cover art must be at least 1400 x 1400 pixel JPG or PNG, in RGB color space, and hosted on a server that allows HTTP head requests.

Is that on me or sound cloud's side? Also, is the cover art just my main profile picture?

Thanks Mathis!

Hi there,

Hmm, When submitting the Podtrac URL to a validator, I only get this: http://cl.ly/image/3A08370V2u1z

I just went ahead and validated the SoundCloud RSS feed on http://validator.w3.org/ and it did not give me any errors at all, so it looks like running the feed through Podtrac is confusing the validator. However, both of the validations succeed, so you should be good to go from our end.

What error message are you seeing when trying to submit your feed to iTunes? Maybe I can help one I know that.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Cheers
Mathis
Apparently the problem was that I can entered my podtrac feed under extra settings, removing it worked. I had seen this suggested by you guys in other threads. But can I enter it again now? I would like my soundclod activity to be tracked by podtrac too.

Hi there,

Are you still facing the same issue? I've looked into your settings and it is all good. I also checked with a feed validator, and the feed validated just fine, so you should be able to submit to iTunes properly. The profile artwork is currently set to 3000x3000 px, which is iTunes' maximum size - just to be sure this is not what's causing the issue, maybe upload a slightly smaller version of the image to your SoundCloud profile.

Other then that, if you haven't provided your email address on the "Content" page in your settings, please do so to be sure this is not something that prevents iTunes from accepting your feed.

If this still doesn't help, please provide a screenshot of the error message that you're given when trying to submit to iTunes. This way we can investigate this for you from here further.

Cheers,
Mathis
im having this same problem it keeps saying this "Podcast cover art must be at least 1400 X 1400 pixel JPG or PNG, in RGB color space, and hosted on a server that allows HTTP head requests."

Wow. This problem goes this far back? I'm having the same problem. What can be done to fix this? At this point i'm not even getting a reply back from apple. http://feeds.soundcloud.com/users/soundcloud:users:374157692/sounds.rss
Hi Mathis - please would you help. I am struggling to validate my podcast. I've applied all your suggestions in the thread above, but still no luck.

I contacted Apple podcasts and they say "After trying to validate your feed using Podbase Podcast Validator, it appears your feed does not have byte-range requests enabled which prevents your podcast from being streamed through iTunes. To enable streaming playback of your episodes, ensure your hosting server allows HTTP HEAD requests and has byte-range requests enabled."

I have scoured Soundcloud and the web for help but am stuck - please could you help? My RSS is http://feeds.soundcloud.com/users/soundcloud:users:469259385/sounds.rss and email is stella@zingelaulwazi.org.za.

Thank you!
Hello,

I've tried to validate my rss feed through Podbase Podcast Validator, and all is fine except Byte-range support. I'm not sure what to do. When I try to upload it to iTunes, it then says no episodes exist in this feed, even though there are. Please help! I'm so confused!

I am having the same problem, when I run through https://podba.se/validate/ it keeps saying this "The cover art must be 1,400–3,000 pixels square to look good on fancy retina-class displays." My cover art should meet that requirement.
It also says Byte-range support
The server for your episodes must support “byte-range requests”, which enables podcast apps to fetch media in chunks. This is required to support streaming, and is required to be promoted in iTunes.
