Question

Facebook Image

I spend a lot of time getting my art correct for my uploads. I produce a nice square image. It looks good on SoundCloud but when I post it to Facebook, it is distorted and much of the image is cut off. I've even had it change from a square with some text to a big image that is missing the top and bottom...see the attached image. How can I get a complete consistent image every time to Facebook posts.

Hi there Inception 67,

Thank you for getting in touch. Hmm, let's see - when you share your tracks to Facebook, they will render into our Visual Embedded player automatically. The visual player should show most of your artwork. It is only the preview that might be cropped. Is this what you are referring to?
Thanks for the reply. If you look at the artwork in SoundCloud for the song Life or Bourbon Street there is a square image that fits great. If you look a the screen shot in Facebook, you'll see the image is cropped all around..Bottom..top...sides... https://www.facebook.com/Inception67 I just want to know what size I need to make the image in SoundCloud so it fits in Facebook.

Hi again,

Ah, now I see. The embedded player on Facebook will always cut of parts of the full artwork i'm afraid 😕 Thus, if you want to make sure the artwork is fully shown on Facebook, the best thing you could do in the case of your track "Bourbon Street" is to make the symbol (the CD-like-circle) small and leave more of the red space.

I understand this is not ideal for you, but since Facebook doesn't leave a lot of room for custom adjustments, that's currently the best I can suggest.

However, I will make sure to pass on your query to the relevant product team to discuss future plans around this.

Hello Mathis,
I have the same problem, only it seems to magnify the image, so that it's completely unacceptable from a graphics designer (not me, but my supervisor) standpoint. Below you see first what it looks like on Soundcloud, and then what it looks like on Facebook. Ay-yigh-yigh... not very pretty...
Please pass this on to someone who might be able to fix this interface between you and Facebook.
Thank you...

It's not just SoundCloud. I've since learned that all the music services I use have the same problem.

Hi there,

What image size & resolution are you uploading to SoundCloud? We accept any images up to 2mb in size. For the best results, we recommend uploading a .jpg or .png of at least 800 pixels x 800 pixels.

Image is 800X846 pixels, JPEG, still enlarges the image when transferred to Facebook.
same problem here. It seems to work ok for some and not for others.
Has anybody figured out any solutions other than making a new graphic just to be used for Facebook posting?
Same problem here - anyone found a solution other than the custom graphic mentioned above?
