Question

Fake Plays

As a creator, I need fans to consistently view and engage in my content. There are many people that offer promotion to help with this. Internet influencers, other artists, etc, can get their fans to look into my art, and help me with gaining followers and engagement. However, when one online retailer promises authentic promotion, and does nothing but deliver bots and fake plays, what can I do to go back to seeing the real statistics? I use my SoundCloud analytics to plot tours, plan events and contact certain artists that are from certain areas to strategically gain a larger following, but now that my project has had fake bots introduced, how can I do this effectively?

My question is:
Can SoundCloud do anything about this? Can they subtract plays from songs? I know exactly how many were added and when. And I need to get these statistics back to a more accurate state.

Did you ever get a resolution to this?

In my experience: You can report all you want. It doesn't seem to help, no matter how much information you provide or how many times you have the issue and have to submit a ticket, they never get back to you.

Just leaving this here for people in the future. DO NOT ever get your hopes up with Soundcloud support. It seems to get worse quarterly.

Hi there,

Unfortunately, spam and fake activity is a real problem, and our Trust & Safety team continues to work on ways to fight spam, detect it as soon as possible, and prevent such accounts from being created in the first place. Blocking and reporting is what they continue to recommend to users, as it also helps them to identify patterns.

UPDATE: They do reply, but it takes about three weeks. They provide basically the same template as above, but a bit more dragged out. Following these steps doesn't seem to help though unless theoretically you were to block and spam every single person to ever interact with you. Once your account is for whatever reason being slammed with fake plays it does not seem there is ANY way to resolve it. For about three months now I have had to delete multiple songs, losing any real plays and support I've gained. Rediculous lack of support. I regret so much buying a year plan from this service that consistently fails to deliver a consistent, reliable product.
There is someone on here called Music Promotion Corp and they have a few different pages with slight changes to the name. Everytime I put a track on Repost Exchange they repost the track and what follows is my stats show tons of plays......these are obviously fake plays caused by them ( they are a "Soundcloud Promotion" company)I have blocked them and reported them but it seems another page pops up by the same peopleand it happens again.

Here is a few pages but there are others with slight difference to the name.....always have the same profile picture though.

Soundcloud appear to do nothing though as the ones I have reported are still going strong.

Don't all online retailers promise authentic promotion but just deliver bots and fake plays. That is why you shouldn't use them. It is against SoundCloud's terms and conditions.

What is Repost Exchange? I just did a search for it and almost everything that came up looks a bit suspect.
