can't access shared account

as the title says i cant access a shared account. the account was set up a while back but hasn't been used in a long time & i have been employed to run the account on behalf of the original owner. i was given all the details to sign in to run the account but when i entered the correct details soundcloud made a new account instead of signing me into the account! this makes no sense what so ever as there would now be multiple accounts with exactly the same details! i use the sign in section & not the create an account so why is it doing this?
