Question

Hit 2000 Following

Userlevel 1
I have recently hit the 2000 following limit. Why can I not unfollow profiles that I no longer have an interest in and follow ones that I do... This is causing me a great issue as its connected to the PR work that I do... Also being threatened to have ones account blocked is really not nice.. Any help regarding this matter would be appreciated.. Thank you

Hi Andrea,

You should follow other users because you like their music, not because it is part of your PR work. Although it might be a good promotional tool for you, this way of using the feature can be seen as self promotion and is something that can easily frustrate other users.

Please review the following articles on our help center to clarify your question:

Firstly, I follow other users because i do love the music.... Its my passion otherwise I wouldn't be here.. For you to presume that is not right at all...

I don't agree about it it being self promotion either Its for research and enjoyment and also again you are presuming that I could be frustrating other users...

For what reason would it frustrate them exactly...I don't spam reposts, likes or keep following and unfollowing people as it says in your help community link below.

You may also notice a restriction on the number of accounts you can follow within a day. This can be explained by the following:
  • Your following a lot of accounts in a short time period
  • You are following a lot of the same accounts that you recently unfollowed
In all honesty I don't like your attitude and you haven't been very helpful

I'm sorry but with respect you haven't really answered my question..

Also sharing your Soundcloud links and also the artists/producers that upload is hardly self promotion.. Its supporting Soundcloud and the uploaders

Thank you

Le wantz all ze lusic Lol I'm not a professionnal, I just enjoy following new artists and I've already unfollowed those I don't like anymore. I could create new accounts for each genre but it's a hassle to duplicate subscriptions. I'm actually drawn to mixcloud (I knowww) there's no limit for following or it's much higher. If I can't follow new stuff it's much less interesting. Please do something or I might set myself on fire with a mixtape.

Antoine.. I agree, Mixcloud will be taking over soon enough if Soundcloud dont get their act together.... I can unfollow people which will take me to under the 2000 but it still wont allow me to follow anyone new which is a stupid concept... You can follow and unfollow on twitter so why not here.... The restrictions being put on users will and is driving people away to alternative websites

posting new topics for the same question will get you no where. i applaud soundcloud for all their efforts in spam and click farm protection and prevention. in fact, out of all the websites i spend time on. soundcloud is THE LEAST spammy, by a long shot... thank you soundcloud.

i will try to be as delicate as i can, but the question was answered. im sorry you were not satisfied. i have explained this before in other threads on the same topic, but its clearly easy to tell which users are following and liking tracks as designed. and not just trying to add as many as possible. the restrictions being put in place will only drive the users away that abuse the function. now if we can only get all the other sites to do the same thing, the world will be a better place.

@DopeLabs, I find it astonishing that you find SC the least invasive site with regards to spamming.
Most of the messages and likes I receive are from porn models or paid likes/subs morons.

Really?

@Dopelabs as a music lover first and foremost I believe that people should have a choice as to whether or not when they reach 2000 following that they can unfollow and follow other artists.... I see your point with regards to spamming but you can't tar everyone with the same brush.. Also some uploaders accounts don't have fresh stuff put on Soundcloud... Why not be able to unfollow these and follow something more fresh
