Hello

Hey Lasse,
Nice of you to bring it to our attention, but it seems as if you're using a robot or hack to spam us with this. Can you please stop that?

Hello,

I've read your API's Terms and Conditions, and quoting:
Please also bear in mind that all User Content available over the SoundCloud®️ API has been created and uploaded by users. We expect all of our users only to upload content to which they own or control the relevant rights, but we cannot give you any guarantee that this will always be the case. This is explained further in the Liability for User Content section below. Regardless of any permissions set by any Uploader with respect to any User Content, you must not use the SoundCloud®️ API, or any User Content accessible via the SoundCloud®️ API, for any of the following purposes:to create a page, profile, channel or other online presence dedicated to one or more specific artists or set of repertoire
to create any kind of alternative digital content service, including: any service that aggregates and streams User Content from multiple users into an on-demand listening service, or any playback experience which aggregates and streams User Content with content from other services (e.g. SoundCloud with YouTube) Given these points from your ToS (https://developers.soundcloud.com/docs/api/terms-of-use#privacy ) I would like to hear back how is it possible to run websites like:

http://whyd.com/ - that's exactly what it does - it aggregates music that's added by community, it allows search and playback like from here http://whyd.com/search?q=twenty%20one%20pilots (you can filter by service in upper right corner)

http://www.hillydilly.com/ - same idea, but doesn't use youtube as I checked.

Are these websites running legally? It's basically against your ToU (ToS)

These sites don't quite literally allow playback / download, they run using "headless" soundcloud player, that is using soundcloud player API to control music that is playing THROUGH soundcloud, but without soundcloud controls / logos / anything, that's a little bit different from straight stealing / downloading and uploading elsewhere.

Nothing against using the soundcloud player with other looks and styles, why should we?
Alas these sites have used the API in such a way that anyone can download any track from soundcloud, as stated before, in addition to regular play. Some of these sites even give instructions on how to download, although in most cases it is as simple as right-click, select save-as (you're welcome).

So in addition of playing THROUGH soundcloud, which is acceptable as stated by me before, they offer downloads in cases where that is explicitly forbidden by the owner of the soundcloud track. There is a non-subtle difference between downloading or playing and my opinion on this remains the same: disrespectful to say the least and shameless piracy for a fact.

Yes I did, Marcin. It speaks about playback experience and streams, not about downloading.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Site appears to have copied the entire catalog and has put a "free" download butt....

Hello Everyone,

I am an independent DJ/Musician here on SoundCloud and I would like for people to know about what has been brought to my attention from a fellow SoundCloud user.
There is a website called SounDownload .com and they have some how gained access to EVERY SoundCloud profile and has their music available for FREE Download.
The problem is, I don't want my songs available for downloading that's why I configured my account for no downloads. EVERY one's songs are available on this site for FREE.

I've included some screenshots of the home page to the site and my profile as it looks on their site. I never signed up with these people either so how can I have a profile with them?

What can we do about this? What can SoundCloud do about this?

I just found out this was happening by Googling myself. There are links all over Google that lead to my lyric collaborations on a site called SongMine. Every upload I ever made was taken and is being offered as a FREE DOWNLOAD. This pisses me off to no end!!!!!!!!!!

Yes!!! Just found out about this!!!

This is a huge problem!! If someone can take your tracks, what else can they take??
Can they steal your credit card info if you used it to join SoundCloud??

Hello Guys, yesterday i realized, that my tracks on soundcloud can be downlowded on mp3.masflowmusik.net/ I never authorized them to do that! So they are just pirates...listening in social communities is ok and appreciated, but no pirate ownload, there _s copyright, masflow guys!! I share my tracks with lovers of music, never with sound rippers...so i ask soundcloud, what to do...

Did they ever get back to you?? Same thing is happening to a shitload of people here and I can't get any answers!!
This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Another site using my stuff from here?.

i was wondering if this site (linked below) has anything to do with soundcloud? i googled myself just curious and stumbled across it... surly this site has no rights to post my photo and tracks from soundcloud do they? there doesn't seem to be any way to contact them either.. here is the link to the site below

http://nexmusic.gq/artist/docotay

This site has all my uploads as well!! So do all these other pirate sites. I would guess that the whole SoundCloud site has been compromised. I'm thinking of deleting all my stuff and going to another site but it may be too late.
This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Soundcloud Tracks Being Stolen.

Soundcloud is the only place on the internet I put my music, and I do not allow downloads. Without my permission, this website http://mp3drive.xyz/ is making all my public tracks here available to stream AND download. I'm no one special. I think they've ripped/stolen EVERY public track from everyone on Soundcloud. Can Soundcloud help?

Hey David,

I just found out that all of my stuff has been cloned as well.
The thing is, it may be too late to do anything about this??? What really bothers me is, were they able to get all of our personal info?? I don't list much about myself but I did upgrade to a pay Level.

Oh well, best of luck containing this.

What really concerns me most is the fact that my personal information may also have been compromised!!!!!!!

http://mp3.mygen.top/track/244182749/the-graver-slow-your-roll-the-green-raver-glitch-house-dubstep-...

is hosting a download of my song hosted through soundcloud, this song is not available for download anywhere on the internet, and this really upsets me. Not only are they offering a download but the link to the song goes through a ppc site. This is completely illegal and Soundcloud is responsible since it is hosted on Soundcloud.
Now I see why SoundCloud is so careless about their users security!!! They allow this kind of SHIT through and are probably profiting from it:

I am receiving this kind of email from SoundCloud since I submitted my complaint about other pirate sites cloning all my music and allowing FREE DOWNLOADS!!!!!

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled frontmp3.xyz putting API content up for free download..

A friend brought this to my attention today.

A 3rd-party site (frontmp3.xyz) appears to be listing content from SoundCloud, and putting up for free download, regardless of the download settings on a particular track. For Example:

http://frontmp3.xyz/musix/matt-sawyer.html

Looking at the source-code for the site, it references content directly off of (https://cf-media.sndcdn.com) which is SoundCloud's CDN.

They appear to have valid tokens for accessing this content. I appreciate SoundCloud provides a streaming API for various apps / services, but are site's (such as frontmp3) allowed to post direct download links to this content?

Cheers guys, looking forward to a response 🙂

It seem the only way around this is to pull all your music off soundcloud or only upload a small sample of your track?

What is a great forum to share your music has become a way of giving it away as free downloads.

So far soundcloud have not been able or willing to stop this happening, this is a copy of my last answer from them.

2. SoundCloud uses the most widely supported streaming protocol to ensure your sounds can be played everywhere, by everyone, across the web. When someone hits play on a track, the technology behind this streaming protocol is put into action to make sure your track can be played. By using a streaming technology which is widely supported, we can make sure that your content is playable on all devices, and browsers. Unfortunately, there are browser add ons that are exploiting vulnerabilities which are inherent in this streaming technology, which allows them to rip the stream.

This means that they are not downloading the original file you have uploaded with us, but in stead the streamed audio (which is 128 kbps). This is the downside to using a system which allows you to be heard by everyone, everywhere. We are researching alternative streaming technologies to understand how secure they are, how well supported they are, and whether they can reliably stream content. We hope the work being done in this area will allow us to provide the most reliable, widely supported and secure means of streaming content.

While we are doing all we can to improve this situation, there are a number of measures you may want to consider to prevent unauthorized downloads of your content. While we cannot guarantee that this will stop these sites from accessing your content without your permission, it will put you in the best position possible to prevent people from downloading content without your consent.

  • If you have not done so already, disable downloads on your tracks. Like this: http://bit.ly/1nBVMyr
  • Disable app playback, so that your track will not be playable outside of the SoundCloudplatform and our own apps (i.e. the official SoundCloud iOS and Android apps). There's more information on how to do this here: http://bit.ly/1P2uHO5
We hope this helps to provide further clarification. More information on how to report sites or apps of that nature can be found here

I am considering closing my soundcloud pro account, I don't make music for money but this is madness.

I find it ridiculous that people can download my music from soundcloud onto download sites on the internet, even tho all my permissions are off & the embed codes are only available to me, i spend £1000's on my collection & for people to be able to download soundclound content onto download sites & then upload onto soundcloud again using there own page names, this needs sorting, so maybe i think i need a change from soundcloud if the contents on my page are not protected, i pay my subscription FOR WHAT?, it is ridiculous that people can just take what sets they want & use them as there own. soundcloud definitely needs to sort its permissions side out, whats the point in removing embed codes when its so easy to take sets & use them as there own.... PISSED OFF

A quick search for my band name in a music magazine website revealed that it has automatically posted many of our private demos that are on Soundcloud but which have always been private and therefore they have no way to access them.

I remember applying to a festival on the website about a year ago, and adding our social media links, but never the passwords or agreeing to any access of this sort. This is clearly a hole or bug in Soundcloud privacy, how can I solve this? Thank you very much.

Hi there,

I cannot seem to play the track on the page that you've posted actually - have you removed the track? It certainly is weird that they were able to fetch information about your private tracks. I have forwarded it to the relevant team for review. Other than that, please see the original post to learn how to report a site like the one you found to our Trust & Safety team.

I followed this protocol to remove the track from the third party site.
It left the tracks up but disabled play and download.

1 tracks
2 edit
3 permissions
4 turn off ALL first five.

It seem unless this is follow a third party site without permission can offer a track both for play back and down load.

If I had not upgraded my account to pro, I would not of had a clue this was happening.
Lets say I was making money from music and released a single and posted it to soundcloud.
It would have available for free on multiple sites for free, now you are beginning to monetise soundcloud you really need to resolve the massive hole in your system.

Hello! 23.06.2016 I uploaded the song on soundcloud. It was the first publication on the Internet. On the same day, my song in http://4shared-musica.com this website allows you to download my song and do not specify a file name, artist and song title. I also randomly picked a few user profiles, soundcloud and found their contents http://4shared-musica.com website. A friend of mine recently sent me a link he found when trying to find one of my tracks by doing a google search. I never allow my tracks to be downloadable. I've see other sites like this one before claiming the same thing.

My question is: Is this site really able to bypass my download settings in SoundCloud? Anyway to stop this?

Hello there!

I don't want to have my soundcloud tracks to be downloadable. And through my account stats I can see from where the views/listenings are coming, like gentleflowmp3 or mp3juices or whatever where anybody can download my stuff. How can I block this connection between my uploaded SC tracks and these kind of (third party?) pages? Does somebody re-upload all my tracks on these pages or is that automatically procedure?

Also, sometimes people seem to find my tracks via YouTube (I don't upload anything there) and when I click on the links of it, these YT pages don't exist. What is going on there? Hope you can help me.

Thanks.
- Andy
