Is soundcloud facing financial woes?

I'm a long time soundcloud user and I recently came across an article from theoutline.com who reported on the possible shutdown of the soundcloud service. The article reports there will be a layoff of 40% of the Soundcloud staff - which worries me. I'm concerned for the future of this platform - a platform I have grown to love and cherish. So my question is this, should I prepare to relocate my portfolio of music to a new platform or will there be a possible company buyout from a competitor business?

Thank you for the reply, Mathis.

After reading Alex Ljung's post, I'm still a bit concerned for Soundcloud's future, especially after almost half the staff has been let go. I've also been a victim of a company layoff in which the staff was reduced to a 'skeleton crew' - eventually I loss my job and the company was dismantled. So you can see why I'm so concerned.

I know that you're limited on what you can say publicly, Mathis, so I won't pressure you further. However, If there are any further updates about soundcloud, in terms of specific business strategies for the foreseeable future, please reply below at your earliest convenience. Thanks in advance.
