Question

Problem: "That email address is already in use."

I've seen other people having the same problem but there was no solution for it. When I try to add a secondary e-mail address, it just says "That email address is already in use." which isn't possible since I just registered the @ domain plus the forwarding e-mail account.
No idea what to do, this is kinda ridiculous.

Hi there,

If the error message indeed reads "That email address is already in use", then there might be an account on SoundCloud of which you're not aware it exists. https://help.soundcloud.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003448647-I-get-an-error-when-I-try-to-create-an-account

In that case, I would recommend the following:
1. Sign out of your current account.
2. Go through the "forgot password" process and provide the email address that is causing the error message.
3. Check the email address for an email to reset your password.

Once you've gone through this, you can access the account that you didn't know existed.

In order to free up the email address, you would have to delete this account. Here's how to do so: https://help.soundcloud.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003563188-Deleting-your-account

Once the account is deleted and you sign in back to the other account, you should be able to add the email address that was previously giving you the error message.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Hi Mathis,

when I try "resetting" the password of the (non-existing) account, I get the message "this email address in not found", which means the error is definitely linked to the "add email adress" option in the account settings and not originating from a "zombie account".

Actually it is kind of funny how this problem seems to persist for more than 2 years without any proper resolution.

Robert

It doesn't. However – in view of the thread-title I've chosen – I have to admit that a generic text block could've solved the issue, maybe.
Hello,

Same issue as above, I have a custom domain and the email address related is rejected

I obviously never used it to create an account:

What can be done in that situation ?

Regards
Hi there,

after creating a ticket, the support team fixed the issue for me

Hi Mathis,

Alas I'm having this exact same problem too... And the E-mail address that your website is saying "That email address is already in use" was only setup this afternoon.

As the E-mail could not have been used by anyone else until this afternoon... And I know I did not set up another Soundcloud account today, I'm wondering if you can help me with this issue.

Have logged out and logged back in again... But still no joy.

Look forward to hearing back from you.

Kind regards.
