sudden surge in fake accounts

Hi there fellow humans on soundcloud,

Last night I saw a sudden surge in followers, and I guess they are all fake.
They all have no tracks, follow about 30 accounts or so - and have only 1 line bios with nothing much of substance. Here are some examples, and they randomly liked one of my tracks. No comments from these accounts.

https://soundcloud.com/walkersss
https://soundcloud.com/mitasisabel
https://soundcloud.com/wacky999

there are some 15 more.

can it be a requirement that people only may follow me after they have made a comment on one of my tracks, + some embargo time?

Can I select a group of accounts to block them at once?

Hello,

Thanks for reaching out. We looked into this, and here's what our Trust & Safety team can provide for context around issues with fake accounts & fake plays: We have no means of confirming whether or not your recent spike in plays came from a fraudulent source, but we can see they are concentrated to a specific number of locations that are often flagged for fake plays. The plays also came directly from the track page, which suggests that these plays have been bought.

It could be that someone paid for your plays to be increased, or you were mistakenly subject to fake plays bought for another account. We do not condone of people paying to increase their plays, and our trust and safety engineers are working on improving our anti-spam systems to weed out fake plays.

I'm afraid we do not have the technical means of reverting, or adjusting, play counts. You can delete and re-upload a track to refresh the play count, but keep in mind this means all Likes, Comments and Re-posts will also be lost.

We are working towards this though so in the future we can eradicate this problem and be in a better position to combat fake activity.

All the best to you,
Mathis

Well, the first one, calling themselves Perrie Hadid, is using the photo of dress designer Sarah Louise Bryan which has been in a lot of UK newspapers. Not a good choice if this account is meant to look genuine.

I think it would be useful is all profiles display the date they were created. For example, it would be easier to make a judgement on an account following hundreds of people with a lot of reposts all done at the same time if you could see the account was only created three days ago. Often a giveaway that an account is fake is if all the people they are following have similar names, so there'll be hundreds of Jose's as either first name or surname, then lots of Josie's.

Also, Perrie Hadid. Put those words in a search engine and you get stories about Perrie Edwards and Gigi Hadid. Even though they haven't followed me I'm reporting that account now.
Hello, recently my account was "botted", I received 400k plays in about a week, what can I do about it? I'm 100% sure that these plays are fake and someone "botted" my account

Is this your account? https://soundcloud.com/5une

If it is, I had a look at your followers and this is a definite bot: https://soundcloud.com/user-375400510
Does that look like a picture of someone called Samantha? Block and report that one.
And this one:

I'm always suspicious of these accounts that only repost from the same meditation music account.

Did you ever submit a track for "multi network promotion" from people calling themselves Glorify Records or Glitch Records?
Yes, that's my account. Nope, I didn't.
hello,

Yesterday I uploaded a new track on the label. all went fine and it had like 1400 plays before I went to sleep. when I woke up it had 7000 streams which is very un natural. now the track is still being streamed with 20 plays per minute which is very odd. I tried to put the track on private for 15 minutes but nothing seems to work. ( i havent purchased any bots , I would never..)

Is there a way to stop the bots from streaming?
thanks

Have you got a Pro account that will show on the stats if there is traffic from other websites, or if a specific account here is giving lots of plays?
Even with a normal account you can go to track edit, then Permissions and hide the embed code, but I guess if someone has it already it might not block them from still using it.
Another option might be on the Basic Info section to edit the track URL.

Been seeing a lot of fake accounts liking my music. I knew they were fake because most of them said "Buy Followers" with the email "SoundViral.com". Some new ones just have fake pictures.... I've just been marking them all as spam. Glad you guys are doing something.
Thank you. 😎
