Intense quality loss and compression

I've been using soundcloud for a while now, and I've noticed a problem as of late, when I changed my ableton export settings. The dithering changed, and my uploads to soundcloud have dropped in quality very audibly and have remained bad in quality even after changing back, with the treble sounding extremely watery and losing all definition. Not only is this a bad first impression, but it makes me much less confident in my uploads and makes me want to move to a different platform, especially after paying for soundcloud pro. I'll leave links to my songs and such so that you can hear the quality drop between time frames.

Earlier (clearer treble, mixed the same)

In pity you can hear the orchestra section sounding very watery and overall unpleasant, with the vocals being a bit better. But with Hati, the treble is much more defined and it sounds very open, with the small details being present.

Please don't just say it's normal compression without elaboration, for that's the only response I've been able to find and it's as frustrating as the issue itself. I really like soundcloud as a platform but there's this one issue that plagues me and me only, so it seems, and it drives me up the wall.

Thank you for your time, and I do hope that there is a solution. (Maybe a specific set of export settings or something)

I have the exact same problem. I have no idea how the professionals get there songs sounding so perfect and nobody is explaining it. 😕

Hi there,

Hmm, I don't think there's one simple answer to this. However, here's an article on the matter that I found to be quite interesting. Maybe this can help?
