How To Distribute Your Music via SoundCloud for Artists

Have a track that's ready to be heard? Follow these steps to distribute your music to streaming and social platforms.

To get your music onto streaming and social platforms, you’ll need to distribute it. You can do this by creating a release in your dashboard. We recommend distributing your music about 6 weeks before your desired release date, if possible.

Don’t know where to start? Follow these steps:

To start, open your dashboard. Then, click the ‘Distribute a track’ button at the top right of the dashboard. This will take you to the first step of the distribution flow.

Tracks

Upload the file of the track you want to distribute, or select one from your SoundCloud account. If you want to distribute an album, you can upload multiple files or select multiple tracks from SoundCloud.

Once the track is selected, click Edit and fill out all relevant information on each track.

  • If you already have an ISRC for your track, enter it in the track details.
  • If necessary, please upload supporting documentation for any tracks that require licensing agreements, such as covers or tracks using samples.
  • At the bottom of the form, be sure to indicate whether you would like your track(s) enabled for YouTube Content ID.

Details

Fill in all release details including Album Title, Release Date, Main Artists, Genre, and Record Label (if you have one) and upload your album artwork.

Partners

Select the release partners to which you would like the release to go. Note: some stores like Pandora, Melon, iHeart, Pretzel, Peloton, PlayNetwork, and Audiomack are curated platforms. While we will always deliver approved releases on your behalf, with these partners, it is ultimately up to them what they will carry. We cannot guarantee any placements on these stores

Profile Mapping

Map your release to an existing profile on Spotify, Apple Music, and/or Twitch profiles. If needed, you can set up new Spotify or Apple Music profiles.

Split Pay

If you worked with collaborators on the track, you can enable Split Pay for your release. This will divert a percentage of your earnings to those collaborators. To do so, enter their SoundCloud URL and adjust the percentage accordingly.

Review & Submit

Once you’ve filled out all the information for your release, review the details and click Submit. Our team will then review and either approve the release or request more information.
