At SoundCloud, supporting artists and fans goes hand-in-hand with keeping our platform safe. That’s why we’ve joined two leading industry coalitions, the Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism (GIFCT) and the Tech Coalition to deepen our work around trust, safety, and responsible content governance.
Strengthening Our Safety Commitments
SoundCloud is the only global, two-sided music platform at scale, connecting artists and fans in a way that’s real, immediate, and personal. But with that reach comes responsibility. We want SoundCloud to be a space where creativity thrives and where harmful content has no place.
By joining GIFCT, we’re aligning with a coalition of tech companies committed to preventing the spread of terrorist and extremist content online. As members, we’ll collaborate on shared standards, tools, and best practices that make digital platforms safer for everyone.
Through our membership of the Tech Coalition, we’re also reinforcing our commitment to protecting children and vulnerable users from abuse online. This group brings together global tech leaders to tackle child exploitation with urgency, innovation, and accountability.
“SoundCloud is proud to join GIFCT and the Tech Coalition in building a safer, more responsible internet,” said Ama Walton, EVP and General Counsel at SoundCloud. “As a platform that champions creativity and connection, we take seriously our role in helping prevent harm and protect the people who use SoundCloud every day.”
Why This Matters
These memberships build on the work we’ve already been doing, strengthening our moderation practices, refining our policies, and investing in the tools and partnerships that help keep our community safe. We know that trust is earned, and maintaining it means showing up with consistency, transparency, and care.
Safety isn’t a box we check, it’s something we work on every day. Joining GIFCT and the Tech Coalition is just one more step in making sure SoundCloud remains a space where artists can create freely, fans can connect deeply, and music can thrive without compromise.
